UStories is a student-run media platform at the University of Utah with a focus on human interest stories. Our mission is to highlight the unheard, unknown, and underrepresented stories on campus. Our content, including written interviews with students, podcasts with subject-matter enthusiasts, and short, man-on-the-street videos, can all be found on this website.

History

Our Stor1es was founded in 2019 by Rilie Atkinson on the principles of humanity, connections, and storytelling. Every individual has something to offer, and we can learn and grow from truly hearing what they have to say.

The 1 in Stor1es is a visual symbol that helps us recognize our own independence and personal experiences, but it also exemplifies how we are all similar when we stand in commonality. This reciprocal correspondence improves our social and emotional well-being, promotes empathy, and overall, drives us to be united as a University Campus.

We want to develop ourselves and this community 1 step, 1 story, 1 small percentage at a time.

In 2023, the platform decided to rebrand, making it easier to find and promote. The brand’s visual identity was created by designer Andrew Smith.
