Utah residents love nothing more than skiing the Wasatch Mountains, except skiing out of state to try out some new terrain.
The University of Utah’s largest ski club, One Love, hosted their second annual winter break ski trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The opportunity offered 100 students a 5-day experience of activities, premium lodging, and prestigious early-season snow in the Rocky Mountains.
One of the trip attendees, Rozz Sanchez, shared,“I was really excited just to come. Jackson Hole is a bucket list destination. I was going for good snow—which I got a lot of—so it’s been a success so far.”
Jackson Hole is known for having over 2,500 acres of versatile, skiable terrain that suits skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels.
“Just skiing out of state and meeting new people. I came here by myself and did not know anyone,” said Winter Chamberlain, another attendee. “I heard Jackson Hole is one of the best places to go skiing.”
One Love partnered with the ski travel company Outside Life to provide the students with the exciting opportunity to experience the rich cowboy culture at this legendary resort town. From western-style BBQs, group events at local venues, and housing in a beautiful cabin-style resort in the heart of Jackson Hole, it was truly an unforgettable trip for most.
Students would venture to Tetons Village, situated at the base of the mountain, to indulge in the vibrant après-ski culture and meet with their fellow club members.
Robert Nathanson commented, “I think it’s a good way to find your community. It’s a good way to meet people.”
Many students were enthusiastic about the trip especially after they got to witness over 3 feet of snow hitting the premier slopes of Jackson Hole. The conditions were perfect for exploring all that Jackson Hole’s terrain offers, from powder-filled days to stunning bluebird skies.
“I went on impulse,” Elijah Brickey said. “I usually only ski in Utah. I’ll be able to compare it and say that Utah is the best one.”
Many students had positive things to say about their experience and they’re looking forward to One Love’s winter break trip next year.
